Inspiration... Sri Sudha Modugu, Telugu, Indian

There comes a feeling of someone moving around

Whisking the lips a gentle breeze passes by

A brief lightening drizzle ensues, and then a clear sky.

Umm! The nascent smell of freshly-wet earth suddenly sieges me.

Poor lips! How long have they been parched!

They were all smiles in rapture and goosebumps.

We never really know how dearly we love this earth.

Even when it curses … going dry, desiccated and cracked

Abuses… going soggy, damp and wet; or,

Embraces … with its intoxicating jasmine fragrance,

We never feel wan, weary and satiated.

I don’t dispute the uniqueness of the ether

But the earth, that can retain any number of cloud tears

Is so dear to me!

You know! The soul of earth is the essence of life!

.

'You know, the soul of earth is the essence of life'

A Self-exile ... Bandi Satyanarayana, Telugu, Indian

Everyone lives on his own

carrying overhead
his own firmaments,
dragging body with one hand
and life with another,
Poor chap! He is so innocent.
just breathing life
jettisoning all cares.

He entertains no fears
of ‘how to live?'
He doesn't hurry,

veils no grief,
never burns with envy,
Or, never falters
missing his own footfalls
Never accuses the world
Nor commits suicide.

strangely,
he enjoys everything,
even his grief.

He yields
to no fancies
And to illusions.

Making each experience a steppingstone

He steadily climbs up

A man so confident of himself,

Loves himself, and

A self-exile.

.

Triflers... Bhaskar Kondreddy, Telugu Poet, Indian

4

Some people say

Love is a very small thing in life.

What else, perhaps,

Can the people say

Who see life as but a well?

she said hiding him in her embrace.

10

"Just as this body is made up of bones

Life is an amalgam of experiences," he said

With a philosophical touch in his eyes.

Savoring the taste of

Boneless labia oris,  she said

Neither bones are experiences,

and experiences could be romanced,

Nor this body ... a paradigm of life.

Curfew... Bharati Kode, Telugu Poet, Indian

Sometimes it happens like that…
There will be a ban on greetings and consolations.
A writ soon issues
That dreams should not cross the threshold of eyelids
And even a film of tear should not blur the eyeball.
It perplexes who the criminal is, and who gets sentence.
Spring visits innocently at its appointed hour
But the woods refuse to go abloom
Poor Clouds! They come together to quench the thirst
But people turn to statues that have no longing for it.
God knows which divine curse befell them!
The interdiction continues amidst doubts and ambiguity.
It confounds whether one would survive through
Or live as if every breath is his last.
Yet, heart pretends to beat as though everything was all right.
.
Bharati Kode

Born and brought up in Repalle, a small town on the river banks of Krishna in Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh, Ms. Bharati  works with GMR group  as  a development worker with focus on projects that positively affect children, youth and women.

She loves reading and talking about bookish things in real life. She writes and translates whenever her pressure of work permits.  She prefers writing poetry, her work-life experiences and book reviews.
In her own words,  she is "A firm believer in humanity and always find herself stuck between her desire to do endless things and her love to sleep!"

A Deep Sigh... Gurraam Jashua, Telugu Indian Poet

As a tribute to  Mahakavi Jashua  on his 125th Birthday

Over the deep serene interior places of diamond-hard fortes

built by the Pride of Telugu, royal warrior Krishnaraya,

inhabit colonies of pregnant bats meditating upside-down!

What a pity! The glorious history looks hazy in the overcast.

Plantations of banana, jasmine patios, private rose gardens

Of Chinnadevi that bathed in crystalline waters… withered.

Fever nut, Datura, and Balsam shrubs shrouded Tungabhadra,

And the poetic graces of Mohanangi have lost their sheen.

In the aftermath of Nagamma’s vile pernicious warfare, the heroics

Of Palanadu had ceased, grass grows on the tiger-streaked throne,

But over the sheets of Naguleru water gold-washed of by sunset

The lotus maids still compose the romances of Balachandra’s bravery.

I am the Verdure... Raghu Seshabhattar, Telugu Poet, Indian

Words flow from head to tips of fingers

As subtly as larvae of fish from water, or,

The seeds of Crossandra disperse at the touch of moisture.

They haunt like the lines

From a coveted book lost.

Over the beds of enduring vison to its limits

The sky steps on delicately.

Rattled, Silence breaks like the marble of the Banta Soda.

I cannot savor the inflammable hours with bread

Nor make flowery hedges of the earthly thews.

Every time the scattered evenings

Congeal to vermillion hues,

I shall be the word behind the quondam verdure of the paper.

.

What shall we do?... Pasunuru Sreedhar Babu, Indian Poet

What shall we do?

With what smile can we belie our pain?

What do you think?

Hiding the wound behind eyelids,

shall we bedeck the night with dreams?

How about exploding in tears

Yoking our loneliness to some fear?

What do you say?

Feeling ashamed and ashen-faced under the cover of night

What new face shall we put on each day?

What is the alternative?

No. It is not the way.

We must do something.

Taking this moment as our last,

Let us inflame like a tongue of fire!

Let the world decimate in the inferno.

Won’t seeds take to life breaking through the fissures of dilapidated walls!

So, let us be… like them!

.

The Vagabond... Iqbal Chand, Telugu Poet, Indian

This is such a droughty land like the highseas where you don't get even a drop of water to drink. But, dear friend!...
